Relatives are the Last People on Our List

For many in Network Marketing, relatives are the scariest people to talk to. They fear relatives will make fun of them or put them down.

Talking about Network Marketing to brothers, sisters, parents, aunts and uncles can be intimidating. No doubt.

How will mom react to us selling soap, vitamins, toothpaste and/or coffee? How does cousin Jean react to us talking about the opportunity of starting a Network Marketing business?

How will millionaire uncle Joe react to us when we ask him to join our business?

Relatives recall our failures, flaws and shortcomings. They’re happy to point them out to us.

The good news is our relatives are already presold. Mom is already presold on wholesale is better than retail. Cousin Jean is already presold on two paychecks are better than one. Millionaire uncle Joe is already presold on most people want to be rich.

We don’t have to sell relatives. They’ve already presold themselves. It makes our job easier. Our job is to find what they’re presold on.

I make big money. My aunt makes bigger money. How do I go from “hello aunty” to “would you look at my business opportunity?” Ask for a referral.

I say, “Hey aunty, I am just curious. Could you do me a favor?”

Aunty replies, “Sure, what is it?”

I proceed, “I’m looking for people who hate the rat race in their careers and would love to walk away?”

My aunty responds, “I’d love to walk away. My boss is such a grump.”

I don’t ask aunty to join the business. I ask her for a referral.

Aunty isn’t intimidated by the question. She doesn’t feel I’m trying to cram my products and opportunity down her throat. It’s natural conversation between two people.

Let’s look at other answers I could give.

— “I am just curious. Could you do me a favor? I’m looking for people who have cell phones and would to pay a lower monthly rate.”

— “I am just curious. Could you do me a favor? I’m looking for people who have an electricity bill and would love to pay wholesale rates.”

— “I am just curious. Could you do me a favor? I’m looking for people who commute to work and who would love to work from home.

— “I am just curious. Could you do me a favor? I’m looking for people who have bills and would love to pay them quicker.”

— “I am just curious. Could you do me a favor? I’m looking for people with two jobs and would love to end both.”

So, buckle up and talk to relatives. You have the formula to success with relatives.
