Social media and MLM. WOW! What a combination. They sort of get stuck in your throat and make you choke by just speaking the words – at least a lot of people on social media sites seem to think so. Even the groups that own the social media sites don’t favor the MLM opportunity very well.

For us MLMers, social media networks are one of the top sources of generating MLM opportunity leads, recruiting people into and growing our business. It has allowed us to connect easily with anyone in the world and made life more fun.
Yet MLM has not always been given the green light by social media networks because of network marketers and not because of the MLM opportunity. It has been both a marriage made in heaven and a divorce created in hell.
Social media sites hold network marketers to the same rules and laws that are setup by the FTC to govern MLM. Basically we’re forbidden to make overzealous claims about our company and products.
I’ve seen ridiculous claims of curing cancer, making a $100,000 a day beginning on day one, and by joining someone’s MLM company, one never has to buy products and still make thousands of dollars a day. This has put…to say the least…the MLM opportunity in the unfavorable category by social media.
This has led social media networks to shut down and even ban network marketers and network marketing companies from ever gracing their sites again.
Unfortunately, what poisons the goose also has poisoned the gander. Certain Network marketers are the blame and not network marketing; but we’re grouped together, making both the MLM opportunity and the MLMer socially inept.
But do we throw out the baby with the bathwater? A lot of people think we should…so how do we MLMers change that perception where we’re looked upon as the leaders to be followed and respected?

Look no further than those MLM companies through their marketers that give away value FOR FREE in what they offer…this does not mean to give away products and services for free (in some cases it does). It does mean that we create so much value in the things we write about, post and create in our videos on social media websites that help a person solve a problem and get their dreams fulfilled.
If you go onto such sites as Facebook and YouTube, you have thousands of thousands of network marketers pushing their wares, products, services and opportunity like a sleazy car salesman, thinking that the products and services they offer are what people are seeking. They ARE NOT.
And if you take a poll of these same network marketers, and ask them how much money they’ve made and how many people they’ve recruited, you’ll find them admitting to making and recruiting little or none.
People on social media websites are there to make friends, socialize and to find the latest news that the major television and radio outlets don’t want you to know or see.

Follow-up. Many network marketers have no concept of what it means to follow-up with their prospects that generated on social media because they’ve never been trained to do so.
